Why Ontario Residents Choose Us for GAF Service

We’ve torn into enough Inland Empire roofs to know GAF’s shingle systems inside and out: Timberline HDZ, Timberline UHDZ, Grand Sequoia, and the accessory stack that holds them together. We’re an independent contractor, not a GAF-authorized or certified outfit, and that matters more than people realize. Our loyalty is to your deck, your ventilation math, and your budget, not to a manufacturer program. Nelson Fung, our owner and general contractor, learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before spending years on remodels and commercial builds across the LA basin. He’s the one who’ll walk you through why one underlayment choice matters more than the shingle nailed on top of it. We work across all of Ontario, from the 1950s tract homes off Holt Boulevard to the newer infill near the 15, and we bring the same full-assembly approach to every job, including GAF in San Antonio Heights.

Common GAF Construction Problems We Solve in Ontario

Ontario’s climate doesn’t just age GAF roofs. It attacks them in specific, predictable ways, and we’ve seen every one of these failures repeatedly across the city:

  • Thermal-cycling granule loss and curling on south- and west-facing slopes. Ontario’s inland summers cook asphalt shingles. On 15 to 20 year old Timberline installs facing the afternoon sun, we routinely find granule loss, curling, and seal-strip welding then tearing as the shingle expands and contracts.
  • Wind-lifted ridge caps after Santa Ana events. Seal-A-Ridge caps and tab seals that weren’t hand-sealed, or were installed below spec, lift and crease in high wind. The next rain drives water under the course. We find this constantly in the 91762 and 91764 core after wind events.
  • Hidden deck and underlayment failures under original tract installs. Ontario’s mid-century homes often have skip-sheathing or spaced board deck. Pull the shingles and there’s no ice-and-water at valleys and eaves, plus rotted fascia and sheathing at the drip edge.
  • Ventilation shortfalls that cook shingles from below. A Cobra ridge vent flashed over a blocked or undersized soffit, or no ridge vent at all, superheats the attic. Shingles die from the underside faster than the sun kills them from above.
  • Valley leaks on flat-lot tract grading. Ontario’s postwar subdivisions were graded nearly flat. When winter rain hits, water sits at valleys longer than it would on a sloped lot, and any underlayment gap becomes a slow leak.

GAF Service in Ontario: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Roof

Ontario’s postwar tracts sit at the junction of the 10, 60, and 15, but the roof problem is inland heat and Santa Ana wind, not traffic. The same sun that bakes warehouse tilt-up panels along the 10 also bakes your south-facing shingles. Here’s the thing about Ontario that most roofers from coastal cities don’t get: stucco-over-plaster-then-drywall construction on older core homes often hides a mid-century layer with no sheathing at all under the roof deck. Knuckle-testing before cutting into exterior walls saves hit conduit and plumbing surprises, and that same principle applies to roofs. We inspect the deck before we quote, because a GAF roof is only as good as what’s under it. On a 1962 tract house near the 91762 core, our crew stripped a two-layer Timberline roof down to spaced board deck and found no underlayment at the valley and a lifted Seal-A-Ridge cap line from the last Santa Ana. We re-decked the bad runs, laid GAF FeltBuster and Deck-Armor at the valleys and eaves, and re-roofed with Timberline HDZ with a properly vented Cobra ridge. No more wind creasing, no more rain finding the old valley. That’s the standard we hold on every Ontario job.

GAF Models & Products We Service in Ontario

We work on the full GAF residential system. Timberline HDZ is the architectural asphalt shingle we install most on Ontario tract homes. Timberline UHDZ, the premium architectural, is common on Ontario infill and second-cycle re-roofs. Grand Sequoia, the heavyweight luxury architectural, goes on larger Ontario homes and additions. We pair all of it with genuine GAF accessories: ProStart starter, Seal-A-Ridge ridge cap, Cobra ridge vent, and FeltBuster or Deck-Armor underlayment. We stock standard HDZ colors locally for fast Ontario turnaround, and we order specialty lines in days, not weeks. Our parts stance is honest: we use genuine GAF components so the roof performs as one assembly, but no manufacturer warranty covers labor. If your deck is sound, we repair and re-flash. If it isn’t, we tell you to replace rather than sell a patch that fails in two seasons.

Tile Roof Repair $600 – $2,500

FAQs – GAF Construction in Ontario

Do you work on GAF roofs on Ontario’s newer infill and multi-family buildings, or only single-family? Yes, we handle GAF roofs on Ontario’s newer infill and multi-family buildings as well as single-family homes. The newer build types often have engineered truss framing and OSB deck, which actually makes underlayment and ventilation work more straightforward than the mid-century spaced-board decks in the 91762 core.

Are you a GAF-authorized or certified contractor? No. We’re an independent GAF service provider. We choose to remain independent because it lets us recommend the right GAF product for your budget and roof condition without a manufacturer program steering the decision. We use genuine GAF shingles and accessories, but our accountability is to you, not to GAF.

Do you use OEM GAF parts or aftermarket substitutes? We use genuine GAF shingles, starter, ridge cap, and GAF-system underlayments on every install. For repairs, we match the existing shingle line and color as closely as the current GAF catalog allows. Aftermarket substitutes void the system performance and we won’t use them.

How long does GAF roof service take in Ontario? A standard single-story tract home re-roof in Ontario takes two to four days once materials are on site and weather cooperates. Repairs, like re-sealing lifted ridge caps or replacing a few worn shingles, are usually same-day or next-day. Multi-layer tear-offs or re-decking add time. We’ll give you a schedule in writing before work starts.

How much does a GAF roof repair cost in Ontario? GAF roof repair in Ontario typically runs $400 to $1,800, depending on whether it’s a few shingles, a ridge cap line, or valley flashing and underlayment replacement. Tile roof repair runs $600 to $2,500. We’ll tell you if repair makes sense or if you’re better off replacing. Call (866) 253-5808 for an exact quote, estimates are free.
