CWS Construction in Ontario, CA | Timberline Contractors

We’re an independent CWS service provider in Ontario, not a manufacturer arm, and most of our CWS work here lands at one of two ends: full cabinet and millwork installs in newer infill builds, or repair-and-refacing jobs in those 1950s – 70s tract homes where CWS cabinetry has now lived through fifty summers of Inland Empire heat. That second group is where we spend most of our time, because Ontario’s stucco-over-plaster wall construction makes every exterior-wall cabinet penetration a small exercise in not hitting something hidden. Call (866) 253-5808 if your CWS cabinets are misbehaving, or if you’re planning a CWS install and want someone who already knows what’s behind those walls. For the full scope of our CWS sales & service, we carry inventory and OEM-compatible parts locally.

Why Ontario Residents Choose Us for CWS Service

Nelson Fung, our owner and general contractor, grew up around the material yards of Los Angeles and formally trained at LA Trade-Tech before spending years on bungalow remodels and commercial builds across the basin. That background shows up in how we approach CWS cabinetry: we treat every box, glide, and face frame as something that has to survive the specific house it lives in, not just look good on install day. Ontario’s housing stock is mostly mid-century single-family tract homes, with stucco over wood-frame or plaster exterior walls, and original aluminum wiring we run into often enough that we plan for it before the first cut. We know the CWS Charleston, Providence, Lancaster, and custom maple and oak lines well enough to know which vintage behaves which way. And because we serve the whole Ontario service area from ZIP 91758 through 91764, we’re not crossing a county line to get to you.

We’re state-licensed and insured, and every job gets written line-item pricing before work starts. You’ll know what the parts cost, what the labor costs, and where the money goes. That’s how a construction company should operate, and it’s why a lot of our Ontario CWS work comes from neighbors who watched us do a kitchen down the street — or who heard about our Upland CWS service from a friend.

Common CWS Construction Problems We Solve in Ontario

Here’s what we actually see in Ontario’s CWS cabinets, week after week:

  • Drawer glides and hinges choking on dust. Ontario’s dry, windy periods push a fine grit into kitchens, and older CWS glides were not sealed against it. The result is drawers that drag, stick, or refuse to close square. We replace failing hardware with sealed aftermarket glides that hold up better than the originals in this climate.
  • Cabinet box separation at the joints. Ontario summers bake the air dry, and occasional winter rain adds humidity. That swing makes solid-wood CWS boxes expand and contract, and eventually the joints start separating. We see it most in non-climate-controlled spaces and unvented kitchens. Depending on the damage, we either re-glue and clamp with proper reinforcements or reface the box.
  • Finish cracking and peeling on sun-blasted faces. South- and west-facing walls in postwar Ontario tract homes take direct UV for hours a day. Older CWS cabinet finishes were not always formulated for that kind of exposure, and the face frames and door fronts crack or peel at the edges. We strip, sand, prime, and refinish with products rated for the Inland Empire sun.
  • Swelling and water damage at the toe kick. Older Ontario homes often have slab-on-grade floors and flat lot grading that doesn’t always move water away from the foundation. Add thin or clay sewer laterals and the occasional intense winter rain, and moisture finds its way to the bottom edge of kitchen cabinets. We see swollen toe kicks and delaminating bottom panels. The fix involves both the cabinet repair and, often, correcting the drainage side so it doesn’t happen again.
  • Installation surprises in stucco-over-plaster walls. This is an Ontario-specific classic. We’ll cover it in detail below, because it shapes how we approach nearly every CWS install in the older core.

CWS Service in Ontario: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

Ontario is one of the few Inland Empire cities where you can drive through a 1960s single-family subdivision and three blocks later pass a concrete tilt-up warehouse going up for a logistics tenant. The 10, 60, and 15 freeways made this city a freight hub, and that dual identity shows up in the housing stock too. The older core, built mostly from the 1940s through the 1970s, often has stucco over a layer of plaster with no sheathing at all. That means you cannot assume there’s a solid plywood or OSB layer behind the drywall when you’re anchoring a CWS wall cabinet or a range hood. We knuckle-test and probe before cutting into any exterior wall. Hitting concealed conduit or plumbing in those walls is common enough that we treat every penetration as a live investigation, and it’s a step many contractors who work mostly in newer cities won’t bother with because they’ve never had a saw blade find a copper line. For anyone in Ontario’s 91762 or 91764 ZIPs with a house from that era, this is the single most important local factor in a cabinet or millwork install. It’s also why we don’t send an estimator who’s never worked here. Our crew has done these walls enough times to know what a hollow knock means versus a solid one, and what to do when the probe finds something that shouldn’t be there.

CWS Models & Products We Service in Ontario

We service and install across the CWS line: the Charleston series, Providence series, Lancaster series, and the custom maple and oak builds. For hardware, we use OEM CWS components when they’re available and still the best option. But we’re honest when they’re not. Some original CWS glides and hinges were never designed for Ontario’s dust load or the dry-summer expansion cycle, and in those cases we recommend sealed aftermarket replacements that fit the same footprints and outlast the originals. We stock the common glide sizes, hinges, and touch-up kits locally so an Ontario cabinet repair doesn’t sit waiting on a warehouse in another state, and we bring the same readiness to our CWS service in Chino. Our repair-versus-replace assessment is always straight: if a CWS box is structurally sound, we’ll say so and reface it. If it’s not, we won’t resurface a failing box just to pad a bid.

CWS Service Pricing in Ontario

Here are the pricing lines you’re most likely asking about, for CWS cabinet and millwork work in Ontario:

Service Price Range
Cabinet Installation $4,000 – $13,000
Countertop Installation $2,000 – $6,500
Backsplash Installation $800 – $2,500

What drives the number: how much wall prep those stucco-over-plaster conditions require, whether you’re doing a full install or a reface, the countertop material (Cambria and Silestone quartz run more than a basic granite), and whether the job surfaces any wiring or plumbing surprises. Our free estimate covers a site visit, wall probing where needed, and a written line-item quote. Call (866) 253-5808 to schedule yours. We won’t quote you a number over the phone and then show up with a different one.

FAQs – CWS Construction in Ontario

My CWS cabinets have drawers that stick and squeak, can they be fixed or do I need new cabinets? In most cases they can be fixed. Sticking and squeaking usually comes from worn or dust-clogged glides, which we replace with sealed aftermarket units that hold up better in Ontario’s dry, windy conditions. If the drawer box itself is separating or the cabinet box is compromised, we’ll tell you straight and give you options. Call (866) 253-5808 and we’ll assess it.

Why do my CWS cabinet finishes crack and peel in Ontario? The main culprit is UV exposure. South- and west-facing kitchen walls in Ontario’s postwar tract homes take intense direct sun for much of the year, and the older CWS finish formulations were not always built for that. The dry heat also pulls moisture out of the wood, making the finish more brittle. We strip, prime, and refinish with products rated for Inland Empire sun, and we’ll talk to you about window treatments if that’s what’s cooking the faces.

Can you install new CWS cabinets in my older Ontario home without damaging the stucco walls? Yes, but it takes more care than a standard install. Many of Ontario’s older homes have stucco over plaster with no sheathing behind it, so we knuckle-test and probe before anchoring anything through an exterior wall. That step prevents hitting concealed conduit or plumbing and avoids a hole that turns a cabinet job into a wall repair. Our crews do this routinely, and it’s built into the way we bid the work.

What’s the best countertop material for a CWS kitchen in Ontario’s climate? For most Ontario kitchens we recommend quartz, and Cambria and Silestone are two brands we install often. Quartz holds up better than natural stone under the dry heat and UV swings we get here, and it doesn’t need the periodic sealing that granite does. It’s also non-porous, which matters in older slab-on-grade homes where kitchen moisture can be an issue. Call (866) 253-5808 to talk through the options with your cabinet layout in mind.

Do you offer refacing for CWS cabinets, or only full replacement? We offer both. If your CWS boxes are structurally sound, refacing with new doors, drawers, and veneer usually costs significantly less than a full replacement and keeps the original layout. We’ll tell you honestly if the boxes aren’t worth saving. Estimates are free, so the assessment doesn’t cost you anything to find out.
